Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia. I have experience working with a variety of clients from adolescents to adults with a specialization in disordered eating, body image issuesanxiety, life transitions, and depression. I have worked at all levels of care for eating disorders from residential to outpatient and strive to be a support in each person's recovery. I practice from a Health at Every Size, weight-neutral, and non-diet approach.

We all know we live in a world steeped in diet culture - the idea that weight loss or a certain body will lead to the life you want to live, and that not being of a certain body size indicates a personal failing. This messaging often begins young and can become merged with an attempt to cope with big or uncomfortable emotions. Having a safe place to explore and a therapist who can help increase tolerance and comfort with the underlying function of disordered eating is often crucial to identifying alternative ways of coping.

For all of us, life is often unpredictable and complex. We may find ourselves struggling with adjusting to major life transitions, feeling like anxiety is a constant presence in our lives, or experiencing depressive symptoms that make day-to-day life more difficult. It is understandable to feel overwhelmed in the midst of uncertainties. It can be helpful to have a safe place to process what is happening, explore current ways of coping with stressors, and identify alternatives that move you closer to your goals.

I strive to create a person-centered, safe space with each client to explore, identify, and work toward their goals and what they define as a life worth living. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and pulls from concepts of Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify your values, become more aware of your thought patterns, and increase your coping skills to manage stressors effectively. I am a relational and strengths-based therapist who meets you where you are at with focus on the various strengths you already have. Through this, there is an introduction of practical skills to increase mindfulness, improve emotion regulation, and increase distress tolerance ability. We will focus on your values and how these do or do not align with your current coping methods and the life you want to live. Therapy is intended to be collaborative where we talk about what works for you (or doesn't work for you!) and decide on next steps together.

I believe you can absolutely live a life free of disordered eating, constant anxiety about food and your body, and a life that feels like a constant hamster wheel. I know you can learn to manage anxiety, adapt to new life circumstances, and cope with depressive symptoms. With help and support, you can gain more understanding about yourself and the life you want to live - one that is full and enables you to have goals that align with your values, connection with others, and a sense of purpose.

Outside of work, I can most likely be found reading a book (and most likely reading more than one at a time), on a hiking trail, or spending time with my pets.
