Gail Garlinghouse

Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC)

678-310-0358 Ext. 2026

Hi, I’m Gail! I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. My approach to counseling is collaborative, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I strive to create a warm and supportive space where clients can explore what they’re experiencing, better understand themselves, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them.

I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mercer University. I work with adolescents and adults navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, body image and disordered eating, self-esteem, relationship and attachment concerns, life transitions, grief and loss, stress, and trauma. I have experience providing both individual and group counseling and enjoy working with clients as they navigate challenges, recognize their strengths, and develop a greater understanding of themselves.

My style as a therapist is conversational, supportive, and validating, while also being willing to gently challenge clients when it can help them grow. I enjoy helping clients look beyond what they are feeling or doing in the moment to better understand the patterns, experiences, and beliefs that may be influencing them. I also believe therapy should provide clients with tangible tools they can take with them outside of the therapy room, so we will work together to develop practical coping skills and strategies that fit into their everyday lives.

Because every client is different, I tailor my approach to each person’s individual needs and goals. I incorporate evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while maintaining a collaborative approach throughout the counseling process.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy practicing yoga, reading, spending time with friends, and hanging out with my cats.
