Candra Garrett
678-310-0358 ext. 2022
Candra grew up in Marietta, GA attending Sprayberry High School before enrolling at Georgia College & State University where she got her Bachelors in Psychological Science and minor in business. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Mercer University in Atlanta. Her mental health education program includes additional specialty training for clients experiencing chronic illness, chronic pain, and/or disability. Her own experience being diagnosed and treated for endometriosis makes her especially equipped and passionate to work with this population among others.
Candra also brings dynamic life experience from a varied career. Her time as a children's swim instructor taught her that fear can be overcome with the right support and some creativity. Additionally, having ten years’ experience working in business and tech helps her understand the unique stressors of the modern workplace. As a manager for four years and HR professional for three, she can also help you handle a tricky work situation or navigate office politics.
Her education, training and experience equips her to work with children, teens, and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, life or work transitions, grief, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and chronic pain and illness.
Whether it’s helping someone gain confidence in themselves, navigate a tough season of life, advocate for themselves in relationships, tackle a big life decision, weather a tragedy, or cope with everyday anxiety and stress, Candra brings compassion, calm, and empowerment to her interactions with clients to foster increased resilience for the ups and downs of life.
Candra’s helping style is creative, pragmatic, and highly collaborative. Further, Candra strongly emphasizes client autonomy and strengths in the counseling process where the client feels in charge and can discover and trust the self-healer inside themselves. She has seen first hand how resilient and adaptive people are and the power in supporting them in where they would like to go next. She wants her clients to feel seen, understood and encouraged in their unique journey. Candra can also offer individualized somatic and wellness practices to her clients in addition to faith based counseling if desired. Candra is under the supervision of Kathleen Goodman, LPC.
When Candra is not in session, you can find her swimming at the gym, gardening or antiquing. On a nice day, she is equally likely to be hiking with her husband, Ben, and her Husky/Lab mix, Winnie. As a tea enthusiast, you might see her sipping a london fog, chai, or matcha latte. And as an avid traveler, she and her husband try to visit at least one national park per year with the goal to eventually visit all 63 parks in the United States.
