Meet Gabrielle Brumfield, LAPC

Hey there! My name is Gabby Brumfield and I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor here at Awaken Counseling. I have been in practice since August 2021 and work with individuals, couples, and families.

My favorite populations to work with are teenagers and adults, and I specialize in the following areas of concern: anxiety/depression, self-harming behaviors, self-esteem, and conflict resolution, while having experience in others as well.

A little bit of history: I obtained my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in August 2022 from Liberty University and obtained my associate licensure in August 2023. I graduated from the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS) in 2014 with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Human Development and Family Science, as well as Sociology. Throughout my career, I have worked as a Clinical Assistant at a mental health institution, a Child Protective Services Investigator with the Division of Family and Children Services, a foster family consultant with a foster care agency, and most recently served as the Program Director of another local foster care agency. I have been certified in Together Facing the Challenge and Safety Care which teach parents and staff how to appropriately de-escalate agitated children or individuals in a way that prevents injury or harm to others.

I hold family sessions in conjunction with individual sessions when needed to assist with family interactions and parenting strategies. I am excited to be here and look forward to working with you and your family!

Outside of work, I am a wife to my husband of seven years and a boy mom of two, not to mention our miniature zoo of animals: two dogs, two cats, and a fish. I am a Georgia Dawg that loves her some college football and am a sucker for a good card game any day of the week.
